Maze brain types

Thinking about getting a maze brain for my 300 gallon and putting him on the sand bed .im looking for the type that grows into a softball shape .does anyone have any experiance with them ? Which type grow into a dome shape ?i know some grow flat .is that a diffrent species?

I'm not exactly sure which ones in particular will create that dome shape your looking for, but you might want to do a search on both Favia & Favites corals.

Just got this and its "dome" shaped on the sand.



The flat ones are are talking about are probably plate corals. I have 1 of those and I really like it.

My brain corals do fine on the sand bed

My Platygyra is on the sand bed and ball shaped. It's still quite small though, just 1.5, maybe 2" across. I can't access pictures from this computer, but I have a couple pics of it on my tank build thread.

seams there slow growers right? may buy a small colony instead of my usual frags ..i really want the dome shaped type

Just picked up a Oulophyllia (atleast I think it is)
