meat coral?

My fiance and I are new to the hobby with a twelve gallon nano. I saw a pic of a meat coral on live aquaria and now am determined that should be a future buy. We already have a couple brains, mushrooms, candy canes and some other random things that are all looking well, with a few acans on order. Anyone with more experience than us have an opinion on the meat corals? Or pictures of them?
Thanks
Danielle

Great corals, but I'm afraid they would probably grow much too large for your 12 gallon. The one I've had the last couple of years easily reaches 9" in diameter, if not more.

They are easy to keep, though, and only require moderate lighting and low flow. They will withstand just about anything. Mine got partially sucked up a tube when moving my tank and has been fine, although the tissue is pinched where the injury was.

I love Cynarina (meat coral is such an ugly name). They do require a lot of room though so if you plan to have one, make sure there is plenty of room on your aquarium bottom for them to grow and spread out without touching any other coral. I've had mine for 1.5 years now and he's about 5-6 inches when fully extended in the day.

Great picture jokergirl, I'm going to start a Cynaria picture thread, don't see pictures of them often enough.
