medusa controller

I apologize if this is not the appropriate forum for this question but here goes......

I purchased a dual stage Medusa on 11/17 from Premium Aquatics. The temperature registered 83F out of the box. My Big time and temp(BTT) registered 79.0 and my floating thermometer registered approximately 79.5. I decided to calibrate the medusa to 79.0. After a day or two I noticed that the medusa would register 80 with the BTT at 78.5. In addition, with a set point at 79, the medusa would turn the chiller on at 79 for quite some time while at other times not come on while reading 80 degrees.

Although my tank is staying at a comfortable temp range, I am a little concerned about the lack of precision. Is this the norm for a medusa? Should I send it back?

Thanks,

Sidney

Hi Sidney,

Sounds like a problem with the controller, but I'm waiting for a response from Medusa. I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks,

Cory

Sidney,

Unless the three temp units are side by side, I wouldn't be alarmed by different readings. Especially if the Medusa sensor is close to the output of the chiller. Also with a 1.2 degree differential and a 1 degree tolerance, the on/off situation is normal. It sounds like the unit is operating OK, but let me know if you still have concerns or questions.

Thanks,

Cory
