Hello folks,

Apologies for the late notice on this one. Hopefully a good number of you can make it. This meeting will offer plenty to see from a seasoned veteran.

Where: 96 Old Colony Rd, Monroe CT 06468
When: Saturday, September 28th
Time: 1-4PM
What: Skip's 265 gallon reef

Here's what Skip has to say about it:

=============================

My tank is little old school(but bigger than Steve's) LOL....Metal halides and no LED's. Sea Swirls and no Vortex's. You get the idea! Anyway, I know folks really pride themselves in having virtually silent tanks ... Well, they may want to bring earplugs to the meeting if that's the case. I have 3 fans in the light fixture, a pump behind the tank for my closed loop and some wonderful sounding overflows. Did I mention the chiller under the tank? I've done a lot of diving and snorkeling in my life and have yet to find a silent sea, so I'm good with the noise.... Anyway after sitting in front of the tank with a bottle of wine, who hears anything???

Lets see.. What else can I say.. The tank is a 265gal reef with a 90 gal sump in the back room. I do have an Apex system in the sump room, but being old school(technologically handicapped) I only have it hooked up for Temp and PH so far.. Chris is helping me out with it.

The best coral I have in my eyes is my 25"x17" Red Planet. Yup that's the size... Also have dinner plate size Stylo, Possi and Birds Nest. 98% SPS tank.

Lots of other stuff in there as well.. If there has been a mistake to make in this hobby, over the years I know I've made it! LOL

Sounds pretty awesome, don't you think? Let's do this!

What do you guys do about food at these meetings? Do you not usually have it or is it a potluck? What's the standard thing?

I've haven't been to a meeting yet!

Evilme! By our short tradition, it's generally chips and stuff - as provided by the host. Kinda boring, but a we're pretty casual. :) The big reason to gather is the great conversations with local reefers. However...

If you are familiar with a tradition of everyone bring enough food for it to be a big feed, please come and talk it up! For now, please bring on the ideas. We're a small club, and game for ideas.

Hoping to meet you then. :)

Looks like a good number of you guys(and gals) can make it... Looking forward to seeing everyone..

See you Saturday!!

Skip

I mean, do you guys want us to bring stuff?

I could bring something!

In my old club it was always a potluck. The host supplied the main fish and picked the theme. Then the rest of us filled in with whatever side dishes and desserts (or drinks) we wanted.

I'm not saying it has to be that way, just that that's the way we did it in my old club.

I think I have it covered... Nothing exotic. Some chips, dip and wrap sandwiches. Soda, water and a little wine. If anyone wants to bring something else that's ok too.

Happy reefing and see you tomorrow..
