Melafix reef safe?

JELWYOMING
With my recent tank tragedy, I have one more fish that is hanging on, but struggling. It is a copperband. In the area of the rear black spot, there appears to be an area of internal bleeding. I suspect when we lost flow in our tank, and oxygen with it, he was caught somewhere and injured himself trying to struggle to breath. What looks like internal bleeding (bump with red coming through) might be helped by this Melafix if it is reef safe. Any experience with it? I cannot catch this guy to put in a quarantine tank now. So, I am hoping to treat him in the main tank before it get worse. I have used another product in this reef tank with no ill effects, Kordon's "Prevent-Ich". It is supposed to prevent various disease also. I am worried that if he hurt himself, and this isn't some other disease, that treating with one of these will prevent it from getting a secondary infection. Any experience with this?

melafix

Well, I started dosing it out of desperation to try to save this copperband. I only put in a 1/10th of the normal dose. Right off the bat, my skimmer went into hipper drive! That is enough of that! I would rather have real clean water than dirty water with medicine.

melafix wont do much you really should use an antibiotic.

also youcant use a skimmer and melafic it is oily.

it does make your tank smell nice.

I found out about the skimmer the hard way. Fortunately, I stared with only a 1/10 dose. That was enough. The copperband died last evening anyway. It appeared to be hemoraging of some sort started by the incident in my "loss of power" thread from 2 days ago. I don't know exactly how it happened. It appears though that he got caught in something and struggled free causing a major bruising that wouldn't stop bleeding.
Live and learn!
Is there much to visit in Glasgow? We would like to visit there some year. PM me if you have suggestions.
Thanks!
