Melanurus Fairy Wrasse experiences?

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone of you had any experience with the Melanurus Fairy Wrasse (Halichoeres melanurus) fish? It seems like a very nice fish and apparently helps to control flatworms. I currently have two Turbo Snails and about 8 dwarf hermits. I've heard that they will try to eat them and sometimes succeed. How about with shrimps like blood red and skunk cleaner? I have a 200gal tank.

Thanks.

its not a fairy wrasse (cirrhilabrus sp. are fairy wrasses)

Melanurus are good fish to have. They are relatively passive and are great at hunting and eating unwanted pests!

Humm, took the name from Aquacon. Do you know if they need a soft substrate. I currently have Florida Carib Sea (with grains that range from 2mm to 5.5mm). Also, how do they fare with small inverts? After all of this research then I have to wait if it is available for import in my country :sad2:

great wrasse. very passive. i have 2 cleaner shrimp and countless hermits and snails and it has never bothered any of them. great addition.

Great wrasse and one of the best pest eaters it is constantly in the sand btw and is mainly hunts at night for pests. Glw getting one :)

Yes, all Halichoeres need small grain sand beds.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Aquacon (Aqua Con) is the worst out there. Hopefully you do not plan to order from them. Even their information is highly suspect.
Not really, I just use their page as reference, same as Liveaquaria and Vividaquariums. Anyway, I don't live in the US, so I need to import with my LFS.

Thanks, do you think the one I have will be small enough? My sand bed is pretty thin.
