Merc (Deltec) Phosephate Test Kit

I just received my new Deltec Phosphate test kit and have a question. In the instruction it states that the PH of the test water needs to be between 0 -8. My tank PH is 8.3.

The question I have is can I use the water coming out of my Ca Reactor which has a PH of 6.5, and if so will this throw the test results off?

Or can I add some baking soda to the water I want to test to lower the PH (if so how much would it take). They say to use sodium hydroxide solution or sulfuric acid. Is there a substitute for either of these?

Will just letting the water sit in the test valve over night drop the PH?

Anyone have any experiance with using the merc PO4 kits?

The reactor effulunt will throw the test off, because they do releace small amounts of phospate as the media desolves.

I don't have any answers for the rest, sorry.
