Hi

Do any of you use metal hose clamps for ur plumbing? Some of mine will be underwater.

Are there any side effects?

I seen these plastic ones but where can I buy them?

These are plastic.

As long as you don't use the metal ones under water it'll be fine. I use them all over places where moisture doesn't get to. I'm unsure what cres they are...but they will corrode fast.....

Most of those clamps claim to be stainless steel but the screw and part crimped around the outside are not. They rust really quick but I still use a lot of them on my external plumbing. I only use the plastic clamps underwater, since anywhere else they don't seem to clamp as tight as the metal ones.

Extra large zip ties can be used as well....
I saw someone use zip ties with a special tool that tightens them. I was thinking of getting one. Someone on another board gave the following links to find this tool in both a cheap and HD version.

Heavy Duty tie tool
Cheaper zip tie tool

Stainless will rust and that's why they don't use it in chillers.

If you like it tight...

Very cool find Steve! Unfortunately they are out of stock on the #8 and #12 clamps.

Those plastic ones are ok... for a while. But with high flow/pressure rated pumps with outputs pointing straight up they scare me. ;)

I wonder if they carry these in-store?

What they stock really varies store to store. Our local store is real small and they carry the standard fast moving items and most times the items in their sale flier, that is if you can find it. I'm hoping our local store (1 block from my shop) will get better once they move across the lot into a bigger building. Most times the stock is such a mess you have to dig through stuff to find what you want.
