Meteor Shower Problem...

Hey everyone,

So i just got an aussie meteor shower frag which looks awesome...problem is my flame angel thought it would make a nice snack. Looks like he picked a few of the polyps right off of it. The coral is now in a home made cage and the flame angel is being given to someone in my club who has a fish only tank. I rolled the dice with the angel and lost, but oh well.

I guess my question is will those polyps grow back and heal, or are they permanently damaged?

Thanks for the replies in advance!

It might take some time, but there is a good chance they will grow back, it is just like if a coral is damaged, as long as tank conditions are good, they can recover, look at some of the amazing comebacks in the rescue thread

I love the color of the flame angels but with all the zoas I have...not chancing it. I have had some of my meteor shower get stung by a hammer once and lost a good chunk of it at first but it grew back fast. Just keep an eye on it and have stable water conditions and it will heal.

Yeah, even Centropyge angels that seem "reef safe" (meaning they don't overly pick at SPS/LPS/softies) can't seem to resist zoas for some reason. :hmm5:

good to hear....the flame angel is still in the tank, but I have little egg crate cages i built around all the LPS I have (just picked up a bunch of acans yesterday and I'm not going to let him get near them). Well, I'm off to go fishing now. Catch of the day....FLAME ANGEL!
