MH and T5 lighting schedule

I have a 150W MH daylight & 2 T5 Blue+ fixture on my 45 Gal tech tank. Currently I am running a dusk/dawn scheme with 7 hours of MH. When the MH is on I keep the T5's on as well. My question is, is it necessary to keep the T5's on when the MH is on? or should I just turn on the T5's 1 hour before and after, and turn them off when the MH is on?

Do you like the way your tank looks when the T5's are on (( with the MH )) ? If so, leave them on. I have a MH/T5 combo over my 75, and leave the T5's on when the MHs are -- I really like the look.
