MH operating temps.

I was wondering how hot all of your guys MH ballasts got under normal operating conditions?

I am not sure if this is normal but my 150w (HQI) ballast seems to be getting pretty warm during operation. It does get to the point where it is very hot to the touch and cannot have my hand on it for more then a few seconds.

what kind of ballast? My bluewave box gets hot, but not that hot. would depend on how good the encloser is at dissipating heat.

i run a bluewave 7

its a hatch mc150. As of now ,lights been on 2 hours its warm but not Hot . Nearing the end of the light cycle it tends to be very hot.

sounds normal really, what is the ventilation like around the ballast? its not surrounded by furniture or junk that prevents good air circulation around the unit?

Yea i wasn't sure if it was normal or not. I have it mounted about 3 ' from tank on rails on the wall so it can get some circulation underneath it. It is sort of a dead spot in the room for air flow.
