MH reflector questions...

Hi guys -
I'm hoping to get a little advice on MH reflectors. I'm trying to decide if I should go the inexpensive route and get one of the $40ish reflector & socket combos, or if I should spend the extra money to get nicer reflectors (eg. Lumenarcs)?

Also - does anybody know the difference between the "Coralvue L3 Mini" and the "Pacific Garden Supply Lumenarc A3 Mini"? Aside from the $35 price difference... They both look very similar. Here are links to both:

Have any of you used either of those? Would you recommend them? Any comments?

Thanks in advance!

Anna :)

I think either would be fine, They are both going to work much better than a traditional looking reflector. I have lumenmax's which are also a knock off of the luminarcs and my corals don't seem to mind. After looking at the coralvue ones they seem to have a much more shiny finish.

And it is somehow wrong for me to knock one off:lol: :rolleye1:

Lumni Max is also pretty much the same to if you want a finished pendent.

Their worth the money.

If I remember right, I think the PGS version adds another shiny coating to their reflectors. I'm not sure if it's true or not or if it's even worth the money.

I've had the Lumenarc mini's and the LumenMax 2 & 3. They all had a different bulb and ballast configuration in them but I will say that any of those will do well just by reading the reviews from Sanjay's articles in Advanced Aquarists Online.

You were going to build one Covey? Very cool!

We're going to have them in a canopy so no need for the pendant - those sure do look nice though.

Thanks for the tips guys!

Anna
