I went to 7 or 8 stores while I was down there. They were "wiped out" as far as livestock they claimed because of the holiday, they dont order much. However what they consider "wiped out" is still a ton more corals and fish than in colorado. I found 3-4 stores that were incredible. I got some great deals on ricordea florida (go figure) I wrapped them in wet newspaper at the airport in the bathroom. I took in the bagged rics and dumped out the excess water then squeezed out the air and re-sealed the bags so I could carry them on. It was close to 50 hours from bagging at the LFS to going into my tank. That worked great and they are open and doing well
The prices were close to ours maybe a bit cheaper (probably due to volume)
The one thing everybody has cheap it hermits and astreas, hundreds in a tank for 50¢ each. and some were large. I didn't see any rare or LE type corals, the same old usual stuff. They do sell urchins for $3-$5 also. Some of the tanks were really unique designs and they use a lot of marble, or fake stone stuff to face the tank stand and canopy, some looked really nice, I should have taken pics:rolleye1:
All in all a great place to shop for stuff if you ever go there, i have been to LFS in other parts of the country and these guys had the best overall by far. For lots of Corals and the biggest selection though I'd still say Keys Island in Denver is tough to beat.
And as far as price goes Exotic Tropicals in Colorado Springs is hard to beat.
BTW one store had a large piece of tonga branch maybe 24" long by a foot tall covered in green star polyps for $800! I wonder if they will actually sell it!
And they sell pulsing xenia for a ton of money, all that was in stock said "sold" on the tank. I guess their market has'nt been flooded with PX like ours.
