Save the Date!

The Michigan Coral Expo & Swap (aka Lansing Swap) will be on February 21, 2016.

MCES is the largest reef event in Michigan...now in its 10th year! The event is hosted by two clubs...The Mid-Michigan Marine Club and Grand Rapids Marine Aquarium Society. Both clubs are busy making preparations and working on speakers and raffle to make it even better. Last year, MCES brought together over 800 hobbyists from around the state and upper midwest with 50 vendors from across the country. If you are a reef keeper in the midwest, you do not want to miss this event!

Date: February 21, 2016
Where: Causeway Bay Hotel and Convention Center (formerly Best Western)
6820 South Cedar Street
Lansing, MI 48911

Admission is $10 per person (kids under 16 are free)

The vendor reservation system is now active for those wanting to save their spot at the Expo!

If you have not been to a Coral Frag Swap I Highly Recommend that you go.

Check out this Video from a previous swap to get an idea of all the fun that you will have.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nanVWZhUuzw

Dealers from around the country come to sell coral (much of which are the amazing corals that you see online not the bland common stuff that you see at your LFS - Local Fish Store).

It is also a great way to meet old friends and make new friends that are in the hobby.

You will find the hottest Zoanthids, Acros, Acans, Chalices, etc. all at great prices!

I can't Wait for this Awesome Expo.

It is my All-Time Favorite Show!

It is going to be Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't Miss it as you WILL Regret It.

Tell all your Friends about it.

As many of you who have attended MCES in the past know, we usually have a guest speaker in the morning before the swap. The speaker session starts at 10:30 am. Space is limited to approximately 100 people and is first come first serve. The speaker session and is no additional cost with paid MCES admission.

The guest speaker for this MCES 2016 is Austin Lefevre. Austin installs and maintains upscale aquariums and works closely with a local aquaculture facility propagating corals. Austin has been in the aquarium industry since 2003, working with marine fish and invertebrates, along with freshwater fish, plants and invertebrates. He's been an avid SCUBA diver since the age of 12 and consistently seeks new aquatic adventures.

In addition, we are working on an afternoon tank drilling demonstration. More information will be posted when details are shored up.

Both the morning speaker session and afternoon demonstration will be in a breakout room on the east side of the exposition hall.

Austin is a Great Guy.

He is extremely knowledgeable in all things Saltwater and Freshwater.

Definetly Do Not Miss his Talk as you will Learn Alot!

I really want to go to this one just to check it out, but its quite a drive from the downriver area (Woodhaven). Although it would mean I could finally check out the legendary Preuss Pets if I did.

Woodhaven to Lansing.

That is Nothing.

I went to a Frag Swap in Columbus (About 8 Hours Total Drive Time).

Lansing is Insane.

If you keep Coral there is NO and I mean NO Reason not to go.

Preuss is quite the Place and that is worth it just to go there.

I mean they have a River Running through the Store. It is Crazy. What other Store has a River with 36" Koi Running through the Store? Nowhere Else.

You get to Kill 2 Birds with One Stone with this Trip!

To anybody that have never been to the Lansing Swap you have NO IDEA what are you missing out on.

I cannot Stress that Enough!

Seriously Go!

I am right there with you on drives. We drove 4 hours to pick up a frag pack a few weeks ago. It's worth it!

Oh Preuss. I'm not sure if this is recent or if its always been this way. Buyer beware, I would never purchase a fish or coral from them. They're tanks are so disease/pest ridden and FULL of algae. The frags can't be seen behind all of the algae. They likely will put on a good show and clean their tanks up for the swap knowing crowds will be in, but FYI.

I can say this, we drive an extra 20 minutes to a different LFS and only buy dry goods from Preuss if absolutely needed in emergency now. Sad, as they have an AMAZING place! Koi pond/river is the neatest thing out there.
