Are micro bubbles bad? I know people don't like them for the appearance of the display tank. But are they harmful to the water quality of anything like that.

I don't believe they are bad..annoying yes. I had a huge problem with my skimmer and my baffles didn't stop the micro bubbles from going into the main tank until I used several sponges which worked.

i agree, not bad at all, just unsightly. i'm currently experiencing a little problem with micro bubbles, because of my baffling, but nothing to worry about.

If you get mirco bubbles on your rocks then what I would do is take a turkey baster and blow then off. Plus I would also try to solve the micro bubble problem by adding a bubble diffuser on the end line of your skimmer if thats where they are comming from.

My main concern is that the bubbles are not good for the tank. You all seem to say they are fine, but for appearance they suck.

I completed took apart a seaclone, and made my own skimmer out of it, and when I up the airflow, I get sweet contact time in the skimmer, but some of the bubbles get sucked back into the tank. I'm fine with the bubbles, because the skimmer is pulling sweet gunk. I just don't want the bubbles to be harmful to the tank.

I'm thinking of making adjustments to the skimmer, and put some kind of foam block on the exit of the skimmer or with in the outer tube of the skimmer.

I had microbubbles for 2 months with the Aqua C Remora that I have on my tank. Some bubbles on the rocks. No harm to anything at all in my tank. The bubble problem may go away on its own once all the surfaces get slimed on the skimmer. Mine did without furthe intervention on my part.

Regards,

Pat
