Microbubble problems!

On our 24g nano we have a remora skimmer on the back, does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the microbubbles from getting into the display tank area? Its not super bad but sure is annoying.

How new is the remora? It may decipate when the skimmer gets a little more action. Do you have the return going back directly in the main tank or back chamber?

I had to put filter sponge crammed all in it to stop the massive micro bubble problem I had. I even bought the bubble trap, but it is bulky and blocked part of the tank so I never hooked it up to try it. I sold it and went with an overflow to a sump. If you cant do that get the CPR bakpak- this skimmer worked fantastic for me no bubbles and pulled alot of stuff out. Carrie

The remora was 2 months old when we got it, it was used. It has been running on our tank for 3 weeks so its now 2 months and 3 weeks old. The return is going directly back into the back chamber, the chamber farthest from the return pump.

thanks for the info but we really aren't looking into getting another skimmer for the tank considering this skimmer is working great other than the micro bubble problem. I feel that would just be a waste of money to get something else. I also tried cramming a sponge up into the return area on the skimmer and it didn't make any diff, still alot of bubbles.

The Remora is supposed to be the best for hang on, I just couldnt have the bubbles because of my seahorses so I had to switch. Too bad I dont have that bubble box anymore or I would give it to you.

i wonder if it would be possible to hang a filter/mesh bag from the return on the skimmer somehow to stop the bubbles. Do you know where you got the bubble box from or anyone that sells it, i would like to see what one looks like.

I have the remora pro and really havent noticed the micro bubble problem your talking about, what type of pump is on the skimmer? I placed my pump about 8 or more inches into the tank with a hose extention. I think the pump is suppose to be at or near the surface ,but I placed it low and out of site no bubbles here.

the pump is a maxijet 1200, the pump is probably half way between the bottom and the surface.

that's deltec for you. costs them 50 bucks to build and they need that much margin to cover R & D costs, lol.

honestly its more like this, there is only 1 deltec in the USA and its run by a guy that likes to mark up the prices. It would be like if rob started charging $100/prodibio because he is the only one that can get it for us. Doug at deltec, from what i have read pays something like $300-400 for a $1000 skimmer and then tells everyone that it costs $1000 because of the shipping from europe to the usa. There was a big argument about this on the deltec forum on RC and he basically never answered any of the questions about it and all the Deltec lovers started bashing the guy that started the thread. This is how i feel about them. I feel all of the owners are so crazy about them more for the fact that they have to justify why they spent $1000+ on a skimmer and defend their purchase. They are great skimmers but there is no reason they should cost the kind of money they cost.
