Midas Blenny coloration

I've seen that Midas Blennies have color variations from vibrant yellow to more on the blue side and I would guess that has to do with the area they are collected from and/or just differences in individuals. My lfs has a small one (2.5") that is a drab yellow--should I expect this coloration to remain constant throughout its life or does it have the potential to change over time or with maturity along with a proper diet?

Thanks
Mike

No, actually it changes during the day. Most of the time mine is a brilliant golden yellow then there are times it's more bluish. I have no idea what causes this.

I think I'll go back and observe the fish a few more times to see if that yellow pops out or not... it didn't have the typical stress markings on it but it was housed in a crowded tank with a Bicolor and a Black Sailfin Blenny along with several other fish (I understand that they are usually compatible since the Midas differs from them by spending much of its time in the water column but it was a lot of tank-mates in a 20 gallon high... kind of surprising for this reputable store.

Thanks

Ya Mike, it sounds like it could be stressed. Funny how not long ago LA/DD had one they were marketing as blue instead of telling the truth that they can change color temporarily. Mine is it's beautiful golden yellow most of the time, but I would think stress or even some food could cause the blue coloration. Worth spending some time watching it or if possible have them move it to a less crowed tank

I feed my tank frozen mysis, NLS pellets and a frozen mix similar to LRS or Rod's.
