Is this normal.....? I've had a Midas before, but it didn't do this. It swam around the surface but never bobbed out of the water like that. (It isn't hungry either)

Mine has done dumb stuff like that. It swims in the open in the very uppermost part of the water column, too so...
If I were you, I'd cover the tank. I've had 3 jump out, and luckily my most recent one landed on the center brace. May be looking for a way to jump out and test the water?

Looks like something may have caught his eye and he was investigating or he is grasping for air. Have you checked ammonia, nirite, and nirate lately.
