For the past few months I have noticed more and more of my zoas "melting" away. Basically they were not opening for a long time and eventually vanishing. I had no idea what was going on and in the 2 years my tank has been up I haven't had a problem at all with z/p. So yesterday I walk by my tank and take a quick look and notice my raptors rainbow frag was sitting down on the sand instead of the frag rack. Upon closer inspection it was missing about half the skirt. I am so upset now.
The only fish I every really see near the zoas is my yellow tang but I have never really seen it bite the coral. I have read plenty of posts on RC about tangs not being reef safe but I just thought they were a little crazy. Well, I have now set up my phone to video the zoa until the memory runs out. If I find out it is a tang eating the zoas I will probably attempt to catch all three and sell them all. I would rather not tempt them with my coral.
