i was wondering if anyone had any sucsess with a millennum 3000 filter
I just purcesed a used 55g tank and 2 were included. I'n new to the whole reef tank setup and was wondering if these might work also I was wondering if the power failed will all the crap return back into the tank? I'm having probs finding good info on this filter thanks

If you're going to do a reef, you wont have any use for the HOB filters, canister filters, or wet/dry filters unless you just want to run carbon in them. But they cause more problems than they do good. Your main filtration should come from live rock if you do a reef. 1 pound or more per gallon of water and you should be good, depending on how many/big fish there are.

THANKS BUT SHOULD I NOT BE AT LEAST USING SOME SORT OF FILTER BESIDES LIVE ROCK NOT LOOKING TO PUT ALOT OF FISH BUT MOSTLY CORALS

wanting mostly just corals makes filters even LESS needed. All those filters can create nitrates. They break down the amonia to nitrites, nitrites to nitrates, and thats it, so the nitrates just build up.

Live rock does the same thing but breaks nitrates down once more. Nitrates kill corals, so live rock is the best thing to use in a reef tank. Fish dont care bout the nitrates, so thats why in a fish only tank you see all those filters
