I bought a millepora frag about 6 months ago and it doesnt seem to be doing well. It actually hasnt grown at all. its the only peice that hasnt grown in that time. my question is do they like to be way up high close to the lights or do they prefer to be further away. i have one 14k metal halide and 2 65w power compact actinics on the 29g tank it is in. anything to point me in the right direction would be great, thanks for any help.

how high off the water is your bulb (try to measure within an inch if you can? what kind of reflecter are you using? What bulb are you using? What other acros do you have that you are comparing the growth too? I am asking these questions because I have the same wattage in a similiar sized tank and I have tried alot of bulbs and quite a few different acros in different places in the tank. I can try and compare it if I had more info and tell you what you could expect (within reason). 6 months and no growth from a mille and something is probably off, they are not slow growers ime. This is assuming good levels and flow.

i would change some water a few times over a couple of weeks. get some more flow in there as well.

i have a milli that has dont nothing really besides encrust for the last 5 months. i also have a piece of acropora sp? and it did nothing for 6months, then got some better color, and now a year after i bought it is slowly showing some signs of new growth. so it really depends on the coral, could take a week to adjust and could take a year. just give it time and dont go messin with it and stress it out

what kind of flow is it getting. might be the key factor there, as i know my millis like a lot of flow but it must be random flow or the flip me off.

the tank in question is a 29g. it has a rio 2100 for a return and the bigest powersweep on one side. i also have a small powerhead blowing across the back of the tank at the bottom flowing behind the liverock. the mille is in a place where the return blows by it and when the powersweep comes on it is alternating by it. i have the powersweep on a timer. thnks alot
