Mini refugium?

Hello,
I am on a new set up, Red Sea max c130 if you were wondering, and in the back filter rack, there is some extra spots for other filter media. I am not adding anything other than carbon yet but I decided to throw some rock rubble from my tank into one of the slots, what I am a indefinite is that if this will do anything to actually help my tank or if it is too small for any Copepods to breed there, I know that any algae that grows there probably won't be enough to do anything but I am unsure about the copepods. So I would appreciate if people could share there opinions on whether to throw so e I there or not to bother

There's really no point in a "mini" refugium IMO. Does your tank need it, (mandarin?) or do you just want to set one up regardless? Less is more sometimes... GL.

nothing is too small for pods to grow.. just toss some rocks and chaeto inside.

However, if you are trying to get a mandarin, you are going to have a tough time supporting it with your 34gal + mini sump.. maybe if your sump is 50+ gals. I believe people here recommend at least a 75gal for 1 mandarin.
