Missing hermit crabs.

Put a small CUC in the tank. Best part of it is put in two peppermint shrimp and within minutes it was chomping on some aipstasia, but my question is I put in 5 small (like really small) hermits in, and the first few days saw them on the rocks and sand, but now there is no trace of any of them. No shells no anything.

Small inhabitants can be good at hiding. There are times a go a day or two without seeing my mandarin goby in my 90g. Hermits are pretty resilient so I am sure they are fine unless you have a predator that likes them.

When hermit crabs molt they'll disappear for a few days too. I'm not sure if that's the case here, but it's definitely a possibility.

Do you have any fish who might eat them? I used to have a dozen zebra hermits; now I'm down to 3. I only found one or two bodies. At first I didn't see anything of them, but later with tank maintenance empty shells started showing up. My suspicion is that my yellow wrasse ate them.

How old is the tank? Do they have something to eat? Sometimes a tank might be too clean for the CUC, you have to put food on the bottom for them to eat on. Just a suggestion. I have loss some like this also, along with some fish picking at them.
