"Mixed Reef"

I'm getting kind of confused with all these different coral names, etc.
What does the term "mixed reef" refer to? A tank with a mix of softies and sps corals?
I need to know this in referance to a protein skimmer.

yes mixed as in softies, LPS, and SPS

A mixed reef is pretty much all coral species mixed together.

What do you think they mean when they say "Mixed aquariums up to 52 gallons"? Are they refering to a mixed reef?

I'd like to use this skimmer on a 40 gallon tank with mostly softies and maybe eventually sps corals. But I just don't understand what they mean when they say mixed aquariums.

yeah thats what they mean. mixed (all corals ) and soft being only softies, don't know why they would include that part though.

So just to emphasise, this skimmer will work on a 40 gallon with soft and lps corals?
