Mixing salt in tank

I am finally setting up my 75. All plumbing is done, and now time to check for leaks. I dont have any rock, and plan on putting in the sand after the rock is cured. Is it ok to mix the salt in the tank, then when its time for the rock, drain and save the left over water? I plan on using good water right from the beginning.

yeah, when there is no life in there yet, go for it.

the dissolving salt is irritating to reeflife until it stabilizes though, so probably don't do it anymore after this time.

If you are checking for leaks, it's probably best to use a hose to fill it. If you have any leaks, you're gonna have to take the water out; no sense in using up good RO/DI water for that. Once you are sure there are no leaks (there's usually one or two), then you can fill it with RO/DI water and add salt.
