Modding ASM

I would like some help modding my ASM maybe gate valve, mesh mod, and recirc mod anybody have the tools and have done it before? Maybe another thing we could do at the meeting?

Worked great on my skimmer.

I think part of it had to do with the pump your skimmer came with Mel. I think it's the Sedra 5000 and that's the one you don't wan't out of the Sedra's. I think I remember reading that after yall tried it.

She had the Sedra 9000... I think it had more to do with the fact that we didn't know what we were doing...


The gate valve is easy enough...

gate mod with a ball valve and mesh mod work great on my Octopus skimmer, same thing really

Gate valve mod worked GREAT!

I agree that we didn't know what we were doing. I realized it was a distinct possibility at the time and was perfectly willing to be the guinea pig. I just thought it didn't do much for me.

Ive got a ASM G-1X with the GV mod, mesh mod, recirc mod and even have it plumbed for part of the downpipe to come in to it.

Ah.....3 or 4 guys, beer and an expensive skimmer part......hmmmmmm

FWIW Angela over in the MTRC forum did hers and she had a hard time keeping microbubbles down.....ie it worked really well She used a different material than what was used on Mel's skimmer.

I think that was part of the problem with mine...the material we used.

enkamat is wht angela used I think thats the best stuff to use, with the way my sump is set-up I have a hard time seeing microbubbles making it to my tank. So what do you think yay or nay or the meeting?

Yep that's what she used. Just couldn't think of the name.
