Hey Folks,
I'm headed to San Jose, CA for a business trip next week.
Rather than fly back on Friday, I'm planning a 2 day
weekend mini-vacation to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
I've not been to the MBA for about 5 years, so I thought I'd
see what's changed. I'll be there all day Friday and a half-day
on Saturday. I may take a behind-the-scenes tour to
compare their giant skimmers to those at the Tennesee
Aquarium.
I'm taking an old point-n-shoot Kodak digital camera with a small
tripod. But don't expect good photos because I don't know what
I'm doing. Plus the camera's not very flexible.
The Great White was released last June and MBA is mostly
Pacific cold water exhibits. Not much if any coral reef stuff.
Still a very cool place.
So: any suggestions? Any requests for photos, souveniers,
etc...

Any hobby-related stuff I should ask a curator or expert? For
example: I saw a great PBS show on the MBA. The volunteer
divers use a soft nylon mesh cloth to clean the acrylic on the
Kelp Forest exhibit. They clean those panels twice a day and
the acrylic has NO scratches. So I plan to ask someone what
brand material is used and where I can buy some. Should be
handy since my (cough) still empty (cough) tank is acrylic.
