Monti cap thickening?

My Monti cap I got was very thin. its been in my tank for about 2 months and hasn't really grown at all other than it has gotten thicker. What would cause it to do that? What makes them grow out

Following along. I have a superman monti that is getting thick all around but I also have a green monti cap that is growing out like crazy but very thin

Do you have it in an area of high flow? Usually high flow causes sps to grow thicker to withstand the flow. Sps that are placed in lower flow areas will tend to grow outwards, less dense, or thinner.

It's adapting to your environment and you've obviously given it more flow than it was growing in.

This is pretty typical on a reef. If they're big then they're thick.

I have a couple that have nice big ridges in them and one that has begun to grow a up around the edges because the current is coming underneath it.

It gives them a lot more character in my opinion.

I figured maybe it was flow. Its not in a real high flow area but maybe its more than it was used to
