hi. this is my first sps, and i just got it yesterday. i went for window shopping but i couldn't fight my desire to try sps while at the store. so i just picked the one that looks good to my eyes. i'd like to know the name of this (plating?)montipora. does it look ok? thank you in advance.

in case anyone wants to know this coral, the closest i found is "montipora peltiformis".

Actually, it looks more like M. aequituberculata, but should grow out a bit to be sure. It appears to be foliate rather than plating...or are you lumping the two forms together? Montis are notoriously difficult to diagnose in this size.

thank you for the reply. i guess i'll know more when it grows larger. i'm sorry i don't understand lumping the two forms together question. i didn't lump two forms together. if you're asking about photos, all three are photos of the same coral.
