Montipora lighting

How do you tell if it's high or a low light spp? I would think the bumpier it is would be a higher light variety due to surface area collection but not sure. Just put in a asd rainbow phx and most comments are an experiment

I place down first. If it starts to become "closed" and/or grey I start raising it until it recovers color. Usually it's a weekend job.

I think that's a tough one to answer and depends on the water and how much food is available. My red monti tends to become very light colored in high light but still grows well. I have a green monti with blue polyps that will bleach in anything above 250 PAR or so unless the tank is fed coral food on a regular basis. Both have a very similar surface.
