Montis bleaching but white bugs found

I have a very large 30" across piece of green Monti that is beaching out. I pulled a piece of a very large Green Monti out and put it in a seperate container after looking over it real well. Once the water fowled I found a bunch of small white parasites in the bottom of the container. They look like small white brine shrimp with more legs. Anyone have any ideas? Can Monties be dipped in fresh water or salt water with Lugols to get rid of parasites? I have a six line wrasse in the tank and he is not browsing on the colonies at all.

Any ideas?

Psam,
That looks exactly like them. Is there a natural predator? So far everything I have read is pointing to drug dips.

Ok I noticed today that one of my Acros is starting to loose tissue from the base up. My tank is a 300 gallon with Clams and tons of stoneies and I am afraid to do any of the chemical treatments to the tank that all the notes suggest. I have a 4 line wrase in the tank and he is not eating any of these buggers. Is there any chance a 6 line would work better? I have one in my sump I could move or I could try to find another.
Thanks,
Clint

Fish will be a waste of your time, and the Nudis will consume your Monti's in time if you do not pull all Montipora from the display and treat.

Eric' article looks promising and might be worth doing your own tests/experiments with freash garlic or the Potassium permanganate.

I gave up when I couldn't kill them off with iodine, or levamisole....I removed all Monti's from my system.

No spots that I have seen.
Ok I have set up two thanks a 20 gallon long dip tank and a 60 gallon quarentine tank with VHOs and MH lighting and about an inch of crushed coral. Now the problem is what to treat with.

Here are the options that I have found from reading through all the literature on the web:

1. Tertra OOD
Sounds like this is a viable option in reasonable dosages, I have checked all the local pet stores and no luck finding it. I searched the web and have not found anywere that carries it. Any suggestions on locating any?

2. Garlic extract: Best I can tell from the reading this is hit and miss and in the levels required hurts the coral.

3. Potasium Permaganate. Sounds like a good option in the right levels but I am having difficuties finding any local and it may be difficult to get shipped since it is a HAZMAT substance. I did find a Jungle pond product that said it had Potasium Permaganate called Oxy Clear. Does anyone know if this is 100% Potassium Permaganate? Or does anyone know a reputable source for smaller quantities?

4. Iodine(Lugols Solution): No info. Does anyone know if this will work for dipping at least in the short term until one of the other remedies can be aquired?

5. Fresh Water: No Info. Also does anyone know if this will work for dipping at least in the short term until one of the other remedies can be aquired?

So here are the questions again:
1. Online source for Tetra OOD?
2. Reputable online source for smaller quantities of Potasium Permaganate?
3. Does Lugols have any affect? If so how long do you dip?
4. Does Fresh Water Dips have any affect and if so how long do you dip?
5. Could these bugs atack Acros as well?

Thanks for the help,
Clint

With the power of potassium permanganate, Pond Fizz Tabs Oxy Clear tablets clear cloudy water of organics and are effective against many external fish infections caused by fungi, bacteria and parasites to include protozoans and flukes.

Details: Remove carbon from filter during use. To clear cloudy water, use one tablet for each 50 U.S. gallons (189 L) of pond water. For general maintenance and minor clarity problems, use one tablet for each 100 U.S. gallons (378 L). To treat severe bacterial or parasitic problems or for visibility of less than 18ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚, use 2 tablets for each 50 U.S. gallons (189 L). Also may be used as a plant dip at one tablet for five U.S. gallons (19 L) of water for up to one hour. Active Ingredient:Potassium Permanganate.

Ok folks need some conversion help. I have a 3 gallon bucket to use for the Potassium Permagonate soak. Acording to Eric Bornman's Artical a resonaable mix would be 50mg KMnO4 dissolved in 1000ml aquarium water for 1.5 - 2 hours. My conversion of the water is easy 3 gallons of water = 11,356 ml or 11 doses at 50mg. Problem is figuring out how much powder (teaspoon, 1/8 teaspoon etc) 550 mg equals.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Clint
