More free chaeto (Vacaville)

It's about time to do some pruning in the sump. I'll have about 3 gallon bags to give away if anyone wants to pick it up. If not....There's always the compost pile. :(

I just threw away a few couple gallons of Chaeto...again. Sea Splendor gets $8 for a baseball sized wad. By their pricing, it was over $100 worth.

I'll try again next time. But I'm not having much luck giving it away!

i recommend all my customers stay away from that place, he charges 3x more than any other place i've ever been too. if they improved the quality of there coral tank i'd be more than happy to shop there and recommend it to people but it looks like a coral and snail graveyard.

wpnorton: you should stop by the store sometime and say hi,

I went by ther, They have one of thoes sections with nice corals, they had some african blue hornets, solar eclipses, egal eyes, some nice stuff, and they have flyers thru ther saltwater section saying changes are comeing, they say more shipments, like every couple days, and more colorful quality stuff, I was talking to evan when I was ther and he said he was getting some challices and stuff and he said one was going to be black with white stripes, I would of checked it out but I dont wanna spend too much money,

And next time give me some, I dont have any in my sump

I'm interested in getting some chaeto. Any chance you'll be coming to the meeting or should I plan a road trip?

Kevin

Kevin, if your revering to my excess, I already discarded it. I might have some by next months meeting. I'm not sure how long it lives out of water, but, the ball (2 gallons) is in my yard waste can in my front yard. I would think you'd really have t be hurting to go I that extent though!

W---whenever you want to dump some chaeto please let me know. I'll take any of it you want to get rid of and I'll be happy to come by and pick it up since you are real close. We give it away to our customers. We don't sell it so I'm always looking for a free source from a reliable fuge which I know you have. So by all means, please email me or call me if you can't find a fellow reefer that wants it. I don't want to take away from someone that needs it but before dumping it in the compost pile let me know.

I wish ID of thought of that. I'll be sure to drop it by your place. I just gave some to Anne today so I wo t need to prune foe another month or so.

W---No problem. I noticed that the original post was resurrected from a while ago. I'm pretty stocked with chaeto right now but with 5 fuges I can always find a spot for it. I just gave away a couple gallon bags more of it today. Post it first and see if a fellow reefer needs it. If you can't find anyone that needs it give me a call and I'll save it from the compost pile. You're lucky you are able to prune yours right now. A lot of the reefers I know have been losing theirs and have been having to replenish. Thanks...

Where to go in Vacaville?

Where to go in Vacaville?

I don't mean to hijack your free alg thread but.... I am in Vacaville Cal and I can no longer stand it..... I am going to set up a reef tank. A few questions for you old heads here.

1. Who sells the best tanks in Vacaville Ca.?
2. I want to brose several stores, which are the best?
3. Is there a reef junky get together here?

I have been out of the hobby for 3 years so I don't know what the new gear is if any. Any suggestions on how to get caught back up. I NEED my reef tank fix!

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,
There really isn't anywhere in vacaville to shop. The only game in town is Sea Splendor in Fairfield. They can order tanks but don't stock them. I'd suggest making the rounds in Sacramento as there are over a dozen decent stores to browse. As far as new gear, it's pretty much just LED lighting now. I have 3 chillers sitting on a shelf in my garage. I'll never go back to MH lighting. Biopellet reactors seem to be pretty popular. Not much else is new. I don't know of any local groups. I was trying to go to the MARS meetings a few years ago, but it was just to far out of the way for me. Even at Sea Spendor showed me a new reef system that Red Sea is coming out with. I'd love to swap over my office tank to that new system eventually. It's very user friendly and looks well constructed.
