motorized unit to raise and lower lights?

Hello Everyone,

First off, I would like to introduce myself to the large tank group. I will be setting up a 350 gallon tank, 6' x' 3' x 31".

I see there is a ricks in many of these posts. I am rick s (with a space). I know there is also a rickss. Anyway, hello!

I want to hang my rack of lights on two cables, and then have a motor that will raise them when I need to get deep into the tank. Does anyone have any info on motors, gear reduction boxes, etc.? I'm sure it's been done before.

If you check out Matt (Bricky) thread in Elos USA forum with the tittle "Big E". He has something similar to what you want to do.

I have a garage door opener in my attic with a 2:1 pulley reduction system. The hood on my 135 raises up to the ceiling for easy access. I should try to get a video onto youtube. I had a similar system on my 270 but it only hinged up the front 1/2 of the hood.

I did this...quite elaborately using an electric actuator.
