Move a leather?

Okay, so I bought a yellow leather on a nice solid rock. That solid rock opened up and it seems to be some sort of oyseter or scallop! A full 1/4 of the leather died and I removed the dying tissue, but I'd like to attach the leather to another rock. Can I do this without killing it? How? I can't believe the bivalve was closed long enough for the leather to grow over it's mouth, but it was.

I believe you should be able to take a razor and cut across the bottom as straight as possible, then place it on/ in a hole in a rock where water flow won't blow it out, or even use some type of glue to attach it, I think you can use super glue..... although I could be wrong.
I can check with a person I know on the super glue thing as I know he does the fragging for a lfs I go to, and get back to you...
good luck!
