Moved my tank, now Derasa won't open fully

Yesterday I moved my tank from Des Moines to Kansas City. All packing, stops, and unpacking included, the clam probably spent seven hours in a container seperate from anything else.

When I opened the container with the clam and floated it in the new water, it was opening up and extending its mantle, seemed relatively fine. After placing it in the tank at the same level it was at before (so no change in light level), and 24 hours later, it is only open about a half inch and the body and mantle are noticably darker. The only difference in the tank make-up is more flow, I added another powerhead when I rebuilt the tank. The clam's in an area of higher flow than it was before, but not a direct stream by any means.

My other corals and fish are fine. Any diagnostic information would be appreciated!

i would just give it more time. doing what you just did is almost like shipping it in the mail to a new tank, it needs to readjust to its new home. let us know how its doing tomorrow.

It's been two days since I posted, three days since the move. The clam hasn't opened up any more, and doesn't respond to sudden changes in light as it used to do (it was fast, now it's lethargic or doesn't move much).

what lighting did you have in the old tank, and now in the new tank?

can you please post all results from every water test kit you have

how much of the water did you bring with you? is this all new salt water? did you use RO/DI to make up new water?

As I said, it's the same tank, just another powerhead is the only difference. Lighting is 130W PC, 65 10000K and 65 actinic, eight hours of light a day. Clam is situated ~10 inches from the light source.

Unfortunatly some of my test kits are still in transit (this is one messed up move, I'm still not in my final location  ).
  • Salinity: 1.022
  • Ammonia/nitrate/nitrite: 0/0.5/0
  • pH: 8.2
  • Temp over the past couple days has been between between 79-81F.
  • I'm missing my calcium, magnesium, and phosphate tests, but I've been dripping Kent Marine Liquid Reactor at the normal rate anyway.
I brought a lot of the water with me, along with freshly mixed at arrival. It's about 60/40 old/new. I always use RO/DI

I've been doing regular feeding of the tank, including DTs for the clam. Should I cut back on the DTs for a while, or keep on feeding it normally?
