Moving a 75 Gallon tank

I've got a 75 gallon tank, stand, and a 20 gallon fuge that I need to move from my office to my home. It's a short trip; just a couple of minutes and less than 2 miles in Edwardsville,IL.

The tank has 3 fish- clown, fire angel (?) and a Yellow tang. One anenome. One fire shrimp, lots of snails, and crabs. 50 lbsLive rock with several active colonies of star polyps and mushrooms. If possible, I want to move as intact as possible.

Appreciate hearing any suggestions shortcuts, etc that might make this move easier. As an alternative to doing it myself, I'm considering highering a 3rd party to complete the move and re-setup. Appreciate any suggestions here also.

Not really a good idea. Here's a couple of good reads. You'll end up with broken tank and dead fish.

Here is what I would do.

At New Location
I would make sure you have New Saltwater ready
Make sure you have everything out of the way for the new tank to go right into place

Then I would get as many buckets, Rubbermaid and/or Styrofoam containers as possible to move the rockand in separate buckets I would put the fish and corals.

I like to keep as much water as possible but others like to do all new water so that is on you. On my last move I used 100% of the old water so I didn't have to acclimate everything to new water right away and then did a 50% Water Change 2 days later

Since you do not have that much rock, and that far to go You don't need to keep the rock under water the hole time, But do what you can do as fast as possible. My rock was out of water for 3hrs with no effects at all. but I did keep the lid on the buckets and Styrofoam containers so it would not dry out.

Depending on how much sand you have in your tank you could leave it or scope most of it out, and then move the tank.

Wrong or not this has worked for me 4 different moves with no loses.

How long has the tank been up and running?

i move a 75 about 9 mos ago with no problems and i suggest using as much of the original water as i did i ended up only using the amount of a basic water change to top off the tank i used big plastic storage containers from wally world for the rock and water and fish and clean 5 gallon buckets from home depot for the sand it all worked out great my move was about 15miles from house to house good luck

I can help out if its after 6 on any night but thursday and not on sunday after noon. I think these times are self explained..

I say save all the water.
Put the rock into a rubbermaid tub.
Leave as much sand in the bottom so you cna pick it up. Put fish and corals into seperate buckets or tubs and set it back up as fast as possible.

I helped IM LON 2 move his tank, We used 2 of these really large Styrofoam boxes that I had. I'd be more than willing to let you use them. But since I do not know you.......I must warn you to place a trash bag inside them place the rock into the bags and maybe a cup of water. I let IM LON 2 place the rock & fill them with a small amount of water, which in return leaked all over his brand new homes carpet. I found this to be quite intertaining once he noticed they leaked !!
