Moving Advice

Within the next week or two I will be moving into a new house. I have had my 30 gal set up for about 4 months. Right now I only have 25 lbs of live rock and a small clean up crew. What is the best way for me to move my tank to the new house. I only have about a five minute drive from where I live now so it should be a fairly quick move. Thanks in advance.

hey man, A long time ago I had a 55 set up in my apt. then moved into a house. I drove like 30 min. and this is how i did it.

I had big buckets that i put water in about 3/4 way up and in each bucket put a little bit of LR I emptied my tank except for the Live Sand and maybe a few gallons of water i had 2 of my buddies help me load the tank into the back of an explorer. I then put the tops on the buckets put the top on the tank and put 2 towels on top of each bucket and the tank to help the water coming over the sides.

It did get kinda messy but it wasnt to bad. But i only had like 3 fish at this time so the fish i just put in one of the buckets with some LR and kept that one in the passanger floor board.

These buckets were like big 5 gallon paint bucket STYLE. Nothing was ever used in them i think you can buy them from Home Depot.

Good luck hopefully you will find a better way but if not then this will hopefully work

I had to move a 46 gal. & I bought a new 34 gal. trash can w/ a lid. I set the trash can in the bed of my truck and pumped it in, put the lid on it, & bungee strapped it down. For the rock & livestock I put them in a good sized cooler w/ some water from the tank. When I got home I pumped the water out of the trash can into the tank & mixed up approx. 10-15 gal. of new water. Its been 4 mos. no problems.

i just moved my 110 gallon i had 3 large rubbermaid containers and about 7-10 5 gallon buckets i moved about 140 lbs of lr and only 6 fish 10 corals most soft nothing died fish lost a little color it took me about 3-4 hours in all and that is including ripping out my door jamb at the new house so the stand i built would fit your move sound simple you should be fine

Well good luck. I moved into our new house a couple of months ago and I used buckets etc.. I thought my fish and everything were doing ok but when I woke up the next morning, one of my clowns had died, then later that evening I came home to my other clown dead, and my mandarin was dead. The only thing that survived was my citron goby, my peppermint shrimp, and mexican turbo snail. Im sure I did something wrong, but very very sad...
