Hello everybody. My family is moving this friday to house approximately an hour away. We are moving out of our current house and into our new house on the same day. Now it seems that moving a tank can be quite troublesome already but for a little twist, my girlfriend and I are on vacation while they move into the new house.

I read as much as possible on tips for moving a tank and here is the plan I came up with for my current situation. I would just like some feedback and maybe some advice for when I move everything into the new house.

I moved all my coral to a friend's tank around the beginning of October. I figured it would be best NOT to move them and then move them again within a short period of time.

As for my fish, my friends tank did not have room for my fish, so what I did, this past friday, was: Took about 20lbs of rock from my DT and placed it into a bucket with newspaper soaked in tank water, brought an extra tank over to his house and filled it with fresh saltwater that he had ready, and transferred the fish and rock into the temporary tank.

The rest of my rock was put into a container with water from the tank. My sand was quite filthy and not a size of my liking so i decided to pitch it and opt for some new sand.

My plan for when I get back from vacation is to set-up my DT and take the time to drill holes for an overflow to get rid of my HOB overflow. After having it set-up for maybe a week, i planned on bringing my fish and coral back.

Whats everyone opinions on my plan? Will my BB survive on the rock in the container as long as it stays wet? Should I wait longer than a week as if I am starting over?
