Moving Reef Tank Tips

Hey all!

I have a 65 gallon mixed reef tank and am currently looking to relocate to southern california due to work. I am contemplating parting out vs moving the tank down with me.

Anyone have experience with a move like this? Would like to hear some of the logistics of moving and how to preserve my livestock. Not really sure where to start, but the drive from A to B would be about 6-7 hours. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Unless you have things that are irreplaceable, I'd just sell all livestock and re-fill the tank after your move.

Moving a tank with everything alive is really difficult. I've done it, but it makes for a very very long stressful day.

I totally agree.
It would be super stressful and most likely you'll have some livestock losses.
And Murphy's Law says it will be your most prized coral or fish. :lolspin:
