Moving to Berkeley, CA

Hi Guys,

I'm moving along with my set up to the Emeryville/Berkeley area. Any suggestions on the LFS'? I have no idea where Im gonna get supplies and corals from.

Since I have the floor I might as well ask a couple other questions.

Are there any dangers I should look out for when moving my setup? Im moving everything in my aquarium into an aquapod at the new place.

Also whats up with these aquapod stands? I cant find one for the life of me. Im gonna try looking at that convention in Sacramento. Will probably see some of you there!

Thanks!
Rich

Emeryville/ Berkeley try the following New Alameda Aquatics Alameda, Aquascene hayward,Aquarium Concepts hayward,
Alantis Fremont and Mermaid Aquarium Fremont.

Yeah I tend to get all my stuff at Lucky Goldfish. Their fish tend to be pretty healthy and I've had a lot of luck with them over the years. Plus I like being able to just get NSW there and not have to mix my own, makes it a lot easier.

Thanks alot for all your help. Ill check those places out.

The turbo wagon is a Saab 9-2x Aero (aka Subaru WRX Wagon). Its a Saabaru.

Second both Octopus's Garden and Lucky Goldfish. I've had about the same luck with health from both.

Watch for a mini-cycle when you set up the new tank. If possible let the tank run with water for a full day and use rubbermaid tubs as holding tanks for the fish and coral. I did it this way and the parameters had settled out by the time I added the fish to the main tank. You'll still have to watch parameters for the first week at least.

Hey thanks alot for the replies.

I just finished moving every. OMG that stuff was heavy!!!!

I loaded up all my livestock in bags and bins, went to the water machine to get some water to top off he tank. I was trying to rush the whole thing because i didnt want the corals to sit longer than they had to. Of course theres someone filling a 5 gallon drum in front of me. I wait for about forever. When he's finally done the machine said it was sold out.

SOLD OUT?!?!:mad2:

How can you run out of water?!?! Just filter some more!

Oh well I ran around and got everything done before I got the workout of my life.

Hopefully it turns out well and I can start figuring out what the obsession with SPS's are about. I always wanted to ask the folks in the store but seeing the prices on those things maybe Im better off not knowing.

Thanks again,
Rich

Hi Rich,

Good luck in Berkeley! I moved here last year and finally got to set up a new little tank (nano).

Of the local stores, I liked Lucky Goldfish best, then New Alameda. I think New Alameda is redoing their place, though, so I can't wait to see it redone.

Welcome to the area:)
Angela

Go check out New Alameda. A lot of the rework has been completed.

The reef tanks are all bare bottom now, and tied into a large sump. The large flat tank has been shortened and moved for better access. It's sitting below a couple luminarcs, so the lighting is pretty good. A lot of nice looking pieces in there.

The sps frag tank has been switch to all zoas and shrooms. Nice zoas too :)

Steve is getting more tanks for the back, and he's setting up a big Oceanic bowfront in the front for a display tank.
