MP-40 falling off .5" glass

I got an MP 40 in addition to my mp60's for my tank. The tank is 84 x 25 x 27 deep. For some reason the MP 40 won't stick. The only way to get it to work is to tape the dry side to the glass or else it isn't enough force to hold the wet side. I have the spacer set properly and everything. My mp 60 doesn't need anything it has force like mag float! Is this normal on half inch glass? Or did I get a dud? I purchased it about 6 weeks ago.

Thanks,

Adam

Did you adjust the dry side spacer to 1/2 inch? If not, the motor will definitely fall away from the glass panel.

Adam,

I would recommend disabling your wetside and checking for obstructions. If that doesn't correct the issue, please contact us directly because you are still under warranty!

Adam,

As long as you have the MP40wES spaced properly, and are using both the dryside gasket and hanging tabs you shouldn't experience any issues.

Should it be able to stick without the hanging tabs? I don't run any of them without the tabs in case they fall but I find that the 60 sticks with no problem where the 40 won't stick on half inch glass without the tab first holding it. Is that how the 40 was designed for half inch glass? If it is I don't want to send it for no reason. I just always tanks on RC with people not using the tabs and the pumps aren't falling so I was wondering if something is wrong with mine.

Thanks,

Adam

Hey Adam,
I too was having the same issue. Not sure if the following will help, but it worked for me. I ran my brand new MP40 on low speed for a week or two. I noticed that if I ran it at a higher speed, the wet side will slide from alignment and start rattling. After that to week break-in, I increased the speed and it work perfectly. After time the wet side will actually "stick" to the glass even if you remove the dry side. Also make sure that you have the rubber gasket properly in place. Hope that helps

If there is any resistance at all in the wet side assembly, it will push it off. I found this out with one of my MP10s. Pull off the wet side and make sure it spins freely.
