MP40 blinking in a strange way

It's blinking red, red and then breathing white.
between the two reds the gauge leds flash very briefly and when the white breathes they breathe with the white.

If I hold down the mode and set buttons it stays red

If I hold down the option button it flashes with different colours.

The pump is not running obviously.

What is going on?

Try to take the wet side apart and make sure there isn't anything wrong with them and it's free to rotate. I had what you described happened to me due to a jammed shaft.

Nope, the wet side is fine.

It does exactly the same thing even if the wet side and dry side are apart.

It won't change, it won't reset, it won't power off.
To power it off I have to pull the plug

By power off I mean the driver obviously, The pump is motionless and cold.

Rummaging in a cupboard I found an old G1 driver and with that the pump is running fine.

The other driver blinks in exactly the same way even without the pump.

I already tried that. I've held the buttons for close to a minute, but it didn't change a thing.
