I just got the skimmer running today, I take it the knob on the intake part is for air and the return knob is to adjust water level, what part is the first riser? It says on MRC's site to adjust the first riser level to around 1-2" I'm play with it as I go, also got the new Vortex Pump, all I can say is WOW...... :)

Open your air intake all the way out and also you gate valve and let it run for a while, from there you can adjust it down so your can wet skim or dry skim. I have the same skimmer. By the way, the vortex is nice. Did you robbed a bank to by all your toys.

I figured that part out already after a incident that just happened that flooded my living room floor....:mad2:
I then started reading closely and watch MR1 in action on video then I figured it out. I freaked out at first thought I was gonna fry, Jerry try to shut off the power by turning off the breaker, didn't hit the right one and I pulled the plug hoping I won't get fried....lol...it's kinda funny afterwards.....I got it working properly now, I have some stuffs put up against it for backup just in case that ever happens again....I rob my own bank by the way, that's why I'm always broke....lol....I LOVE this Vortex Pump, it's soooooooooooooooo awesome!!!! very expensive too....... :D

How would you compare the vortex to what you've used in the past Michael? Have you used seio's or streams? Is it an even more dispersed flow? I've been following the threads for a couple months on these...they seem very nice.

I have never used seios or streams. So far I'm very pleased with it, even though it's a bit expensive. It's very easy to setup and operate and provides very consistant even flow. It puts out a lot of flow!!! What I like about it is there's nothing to hang, it has a very low key profile in the tank. I would definately recommand it! :D
