This is exactly what I had in mind when I joined MTRC. To have other people that love this hobby and aren’t stingy or arrogant about giving advice and help people that don’t know (Like me) and love explaining how and why things work and volunteer to show you if you still don’t get it.
Things like the Frag Swap further show me that the $$ that I paid for the membership have not gone to waste.. Everything about the Swap was very well done and even though I went Friday to try and help out everything was pretty much already done. That just shows how much commitment there was to getting this thing done right. And not just by the President of the club but by everyone that could volunteer to be there to help.
I have only been in this club since July of 2007 but I can honestly say that I don’t regret joining one bit.
From the first meeting I went to the swap that I just attended I have meet the nicest and most helpful people around…
Guys and Gals like Chris S., Wayne, Mikeyjer , Abiathar , Angela S, etc… this is just a very small list of people that I have spoken to or met that have been very friendly and helpful even though they hardly know me at all..
If there is anyone out there who has been thinking and thinking of whether to join or not or whether it’s even worth the $$ I’d say that is not even worth thinking about…
Just the $$$ You can save using your discount at AC, Emerald Bay and Fins of Franklin is worth the 20.00 membership fee.
Just from the 14 Gallon Oceanic Biocube w/stand I bought my wife for Christmas I saved more than the membership itself and that’s not including the other stuff I buy all the time.
And it still doesn’t include the stuff that I have won from raffles like the Blue Ricordias I won at the Emeral Bay meeting a couple of months back or the Vacation thing for siging up early… Heck even the Dual timer I won as one of the door prizes at the swap.. And that is just bonus stuff that I most certainly wasn’t thinking I would win seeing as how I had never won anything before in my life.
Special thanks go out to Jack who always responds to my questions very fast and explains things to me till I get it.. And Gsusfreak who is always helping me out and giving me small frags whenever he has them available and is about to hopefully show me how to frag corals since I don’t know how..
And all this from people who don’t know me personally but just know that I love this hobby and am still trying to get to where they are at.
Thanks to everyone who has(or will) help me out… Without all of you this club would mean nothing.
