Hello,

I am interested in purchasing a media reacto for my carbon and phosphate remover, there is a bug talks about the phosban 150 reactor but i also find that aqua via is an interesting choise

please advice.

Thanks

These reactors are very useful. They're also very similar and add to those one made by Kent. I personally prefer the one made by Kent because of the configuration of the connections for the tubing that they need, but it's not really a big deal. There are even others like the one made by Aqua-C which is different from the others in that it's bigger.

You can use these reactors for carbon, phosphate-removing medium, etc. It's best not to mix the mediums, since most phosphate-removing mediums are designed to be fluidized in the reactor while carbon is not.

would not recom combining carbon/phosban in same reactor

2 reasons.

cost and length of time they are effective are not the same!

which means the carbon (lesser expensive) will need to be replaced probably atleast 3x before your phosban would

and phosban is much more expensive

a lot of people use 2 reactors
for example 2 little fishies brand reactors stacked in line w/ each other - carbon in one then phosban in the other.

some will even run carbon in their phosphate reactor for a week or few days everytime they change out the phosphate media.

iow there are a lot of ways to do it but combining the 2 together in the same reactor is not the best way to get it done!

am only familiar w/ the little fishies 150 brand reactor
seems to be the most popular choice - for the price/effectiveness find it hard to beat!

regards
