Mushroom behavior: is it reproducing?

This mushroom is usually opened to 1.5" diameter, but the last two days it's been shrunk to nickel sized. Today it seems to have moved 1/2" (to more inside the hole), but the base seems to be still in place.


Is this mushroom moving and leaving a little mushroom behind?

thats the way they do! congrats! i have one thats about 3.5 yrs old that has done it many times and some of the offspring have matured and done the same. i have two doing it right now to make it a total of 13 shrooms from the purchase of just one!

Good! This particular mushroom was a hitchhiker on the LR, and I have another piece that has a small purple warty shroom that hopefully will start to do the same.

This mushroom in the pic will actually accept target feedings so long as I turn the powerheads off. It closes up around the piece of shrimp or cyclop-eeze and you can see it sliding into the mouth. I've been feeding this one twice or three times a week.
