Mushroom disappeared overnight

I bought a beautiful little red mushroom (about the size of a dime) yesterday at my LFS. Came home, attached it to a piece of LR w/ some super glue gel around 2pm. Took off for a Hockey game around 5pm - it was still seated where I put it. Came home from the Hockey game around midnight - it was still seated where I put it. Woke up this morning around 7am - it's gone. I've looked all over the tank, and can't find it. I looked in the sump to see if it got sucked back there - nope. It's got to be in one of those hard to see spots in the LR.

Do I need to worry about it dying? Or just let it be, and hope it shows up again sometime soon? I really don't want to have to pull all of the LR out of the tank, and disturb all of the corals to try to find it. :headwalls:

I wouldn't worry about it being alive, I'd worry about it popping up somewhere that you don't want it. It probably floated off and reattached itself somewhere. Consider it a loss for the time being. Chances are it will show up again sooner than later.
Same thing happened to me. My 1 polyp disappeared for months. Now I have this-

Yeah, I guess that's another fear ... it ends up attaching itself to a big piece of LR where I don't want it. I've got a dedicated 'shroom rock where I wanted it to stay ... arrgghhh! Thanks for the quick reply! I'll keep an eye out for the "Roamin' 'shroom"

My mushrooms do that all the time. They split and one flies somewhere behind the tank, multiplies and I have to dig out a small colony growing randomly in the back of my rocks. I went from one green mushrrom to about 40.

So late Friday night I spot the red mushroom rolling around the tank like a tumbleweed. I pull it out of the tank, and again super glue it to the rock I wanted it on, this time in a slightly different location - thinking that maybe the first time it didn't like the flow. An hour later it had detached itself again. So I once again pull it out of the tank, and this time get a shot glass, some substrate, a small piece of LR rubble, and some bridal veil and firmly strap it down on top of the LR rubble. Put it back in the tank.

Wake up Saturday morning, it's still in the same place, I figure we're making some progress. At some point Saturday afternoon, I look in there, it had moved between the side of the shot glass and the bridal veil! I pull that setup out of the tank. :headwally:

Then I re-super glue it to the rock I want it on, and strap it down firmly with a rubber band. 18 hours later (Sunday morning), it has wiggled it's way out from underneath the rubber band, and was getting ready to set itself free again! :headwallblue:

So, I pull the rock out again. Re-super glue, re-rubber band AND stick a tooth pick through the edge to keep it in place. No movement yesterday or last night. Lights come on this morning ... it has somehow managed to free itself from the toothpick and is once again wiggling it's way free of the rubber band! :headwalls:

I'm done!

The roamin' 'shroom is now contained back in the shot glass w/ the bridal veil and will be going back to the LFS this afternoon! I'm not sure what the name of this species of mushroom is, but it should have "GYPSY" in there somewhere!!

Superglue will not work on mushrooms. They will slime to create barrier between the glue. Mushroom has to attach to a piece of rock on its own. Then you can glue the rock where ever you like. Keep the sh room in a cup with rubble in a low flow area of the tank. It will take at least a week or two

I pinned a few small shrooms to small rocks by gently tying them with two pieces of thread around both the rock and the shroom to form an X over it. I made sure not to tie it very tightly, just enough to hold the 'shroom in place, and it worked just fine.

This thing was the Hoodini of Mushrooms! I tried everything, and it kept escaping. The LFS took it back, and swapped it for another - the replacement is quite content right where I wanted it. I also picked up a pretty cool looking yellow shroom while I was there.
