Discosomas do not split IME. They cslowly glide and leave pieces of foot/base that eventually become a new individual. Rhodactis and ricordeas, on the otherhand, usually multiply by splitting. My Ricordeas usually split by developing multiple mouths and split starting from the margins going towards the middle aquiring one mouth in each offspring. Rhodactis strats by exuding a gut-like structure in the mouth and slowly disintegrates in the middle going towards the periphery. The severed side slowly comes together and fuse forming a new mouth in the center.
To illustrate the latter, here is my rhodactis in the process of splitting.
