Hey Reefers! One of our top picks for any aquarium, especially if you're new to
the hobby, would be the mushroom coral. They're extremely hardy, reproduce
well and are easy to care for, making them a great addition to any reef and level
of hobbyist! This soft coral does best in lower lighting and lower flow as well. Too
much lighting and they tend to bleach, so be mindful of that when you are placing
them! Too much flow tends to irritate the coral and the polyps will let themselves loose
to find another suitable location. This is also one of those corals that is for the most part a hands off coral.
They will benefit from some spot feeding occasionally, but for the most part, you can set them in place and leave them be!
Always fun to see the polyps split in half to reproduce,
especially Rhodactis mushrooms and ricordea can be seen reproducing this way.
You'll also notice baby polyps pop up in your aquarium, usually close by to the larger
developed polyps, which is mainly what you'll see with discosoma mushrooms.
This corals give you a great bang for your buck with how well they can reproduce in general!
If you have a mushroom garden, feel free to share and let us know why you love this coral!
