My 180g Fish Only Aquarium!

Hey everyone, I am new to Reef Central but so far I love the site and the opportunity to finally talk to others interested in the hobby. I have been involved in the hobby for about 15 years and have been putting together my 180 fish only for the last 2 years, along with my 95 reef and a few smaller fresh water tanks. In this tank I have a Purple Tang, Adult Majestic Angelfish, Powder Blue Tang, Miniatus Grouper, Australian Harlequin Tusk, Raccoon Butterfly, and a Blue Throat Triggerfish. I'm not done stocking yet but not sure whats going in next. I would love to put a queen angel in there but I am a little worried about the majestic and queen together.

I just thought I would share some pictures I took today and would love to hear some input! Thanks for looking!!

very nice man!

so is all that plastic reefs molds?

i really like the blue cloudy background. is that just a background sheet or did you do something special? where did you get it from?

I have a black/blue reverse-able background, but have not put it on yet. I was wanting something like what you have there rather than a solid blue color.

Thanks!! The corals are Living Color's plug & play collection. You buy the base then buy the corals separately and you can mount them anywhere on the base. I have been slowly adding corals since I started the tank because they are a little pricey.

I forget where I got the background, but I just checked and you can get the 12" high on Bigalspets.com and the 24" high on thatpetplace.com I have the plain black on my reef tank.

just a few more!

Honestly I would skip the queen angel, I think they get too large for a 180 and I would worry about the majestic as well. I keep a majestic in a 180 and it is pretty passive for a Pomacanthus. I think there are a lot of other "medium" large angels that would work with that mix. I keep a Meredithi and blueline with my majestic and they get along well.

I would skip the queen angel too as it's a very aggressive large angel and definitely will harrass the majestic (which is a pretty shy fish).
also, i think your tank is a little overstocked already. 7 large fish is a lot of load for a 180g, not just from the water quality point of view but also space requirement. your fish look like they are still babies from the photos, so when they grow bigger you may have aggression issues due to lack of space. i would actually stop here and not get any more fish.

Thanks for your input. I think you guys might be right. There are just so many fish I want but just don't have the room. I understand why you recommend against another large angel, but do you think I have room for a small fish or two? I have a large wet/dry, ev240 skimmer w/ ozone, and a Eheim canister filter for some extra filtration.

Do you have any smaller fish? damsels, dottybacks, blennies to round out the tank or you're going to a strict 5"+ minimum ?

Awesome setup and healthy fish collection. You have all my favs, as I'm looking into adding a H Tusk too. I would agree with the rest and skip the queen. Maybe get some smaller fishes to fill out -i.e. dwarf angels, grammas, wrasses, etc.

I wanted to get those artificial corals for my FOWLR too, but they do cost a pretty penny.

Thanks! I have always been a little nervous about adding dwarf angels and other fishes around that size just because I worry about them getting bullied by the tangs or grouper.
